Why should they?

The Challenge Cup is filled with great moments for everyone

Making it happen

The Challenge Cup is the oldest and most prestigious cup competition in rugby league. As such it holds a special place in the hearts and minds of everyone involved in the sport, from fans to players past and present. So for the 2010 Final, we asked the question ‘What does the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final mean to you?’

Players old and new, as well as fans of all ages and sexes answered in a variety of ways: ‘Fun!’, ‘Pride’, ‘Immortality’, ‘Love’ and just simply ‘Wow!’ were some of the unique sentiments expressed.

The Result

  • Fans engaged at grass-roots level
  • The website had a positive impact on ticket sales with 160,000 visitors in 2010 compared to 44,000 in 2009
  • The biggest Challenge Cup Final in 13 years
  • The final was watched by 1,355,000 people, up 9% on 2009
  • 85,217 people watched the game at Wembley Stadium
