The People Show

The People Show – an open art competition sponsored by Cravens - is challenging professional and amateur artists to ‘Make Someone a Work of Art’.

The competition, now in its 9th year, has been designed to foster the region’s creative talent and is open to artists based in the North East, who are invited to submit entries in any medium – from sculpture to ceramics, paint to print, film to photography, and everything else in between.

Themed ‘Make Someone a Work of Art’, this year’s People Show – in conjunction with the University Gallery at Northumbria University – encourages artists to explore how we might see people as art - be it as a watercolour, oil painting, sculpture, photograph or piece of film, the possibilities are endless.

This popular competition gives artists the chance to win a number of prizes: £1000 goes to the overall winner and £500 to the best photography entry, with further prizes of £250 and £50 as well as a £250 student prize.

This is an exceptional opportunity for local students and visual artists to showcase their work and develop their careers as part of a high profile exhibition where all pieces will be for sale. The entries will be judged by an expert panel from the world of art, industry, and communications. Selected works will be exhibited from 1st August to 12th September 2008 at the University Gallery, Northumbria University.
