Songs of No Praise
It's one of the enduring mysteries of advertising. How can an industry as creative as computer gaming produce so many truly awful ads. There have been some good ones of course (TBWA's wonderful
work for Playstation springs to mind) but generally these are the exceptions that prove the rule. In any case, an industry that inflicts Ronan Keating
et famille on TV viewers really has a lot of goodwill to make up.
Mind you, Microsoft's promo for its new Songsmith application takes things to a whole new low. So many things are wrong with this ad that we really don't know where to start. But how about, er, EVERY SINGLE THING ABOUT IT. And while we understand that this is a promo and not a TV ad, that's really no excuse.
By the way, our own campaign for glow in the dark bathroom towels launches in April.
